A lot of products use the word ‘pomade’ a bit liberally as it is a catch-all term for ‘hair styler’. However, a true pomade will give you shine and a medium to high hold when you apply it to damp hair. Pomade is the perfect choice for short to medium length styles and is great for adding a spot of vintage pomp to your look.
Wouldn’t-be-without-wax
Hair wax is another great product that you should consider adding to your arsenal. Wax is best for shorter hair styles but can also be used to get that perfect tousled look on medium length locks. Wax is great for a medium type hold and a bit of low shine.
Make them jealous with gel
Gel is another must-have hair product that you may well have already experimented with. If you’ve given it a try and hated it, consider giving it another go. Don’t buy a drugstore gel unless you want your hair to turn into cement (probably the reason why you aren’t a fan of gel anymore). Instead, find a lighter grade gel that won’t suffocate your follicles but provides a strong hold and high shine when applied to towel dried hair.

Cream is the perfect choice of product for gentlemen with longer to medium length hair styles. A good cream will give you a light hold and a little bit of shine and is best applied to hair that has been towel dried. Cream gives a longer style a bit of direction and light control without locking it in place, so your look is flowing but intentional.
