Footballers are often a source of style inspiration when it comes to the latest hair cut trends, however, even they get it horrendously wrong sometimes. If you’re having a bad hair day and want to put it into perspective, or simply fancy a laugh, read on and discover some of the worst footballer haircuts that the game has ever seen. Some of these styles probably made it very hard for other players to keep their eyes on the ball!

  1. David Beckham’s Cornrows

As far as fashion and style goes, David Beckham is usually a trend setter, but even he went off the rails with his particular ‘do’. We much prefer his current short sides, long on top cut.

Beckham - South Africa Press Conference

  1. The Ronaldo

In some ways, this particular cut has become rather iconic and will forever be associated with Ronaldo, but we still think that losing the island would improve this haircut no end!

 Soccer - FIFA World Cup 2002 - Final - Brazil v Germany - Training

  1. Joe Cole’s Curl

We have absolutely no idea what’s going on with this one!

Southend v Wets Ham

  1. Abel Xavier’s Blonde Bombshell

Blondes may have more fun, but we say think twice before you reach for the peroxide. Keeping your hair blonde requires a lot of maintenance and dark roots seldom look good. We do however admire his commitment by dying the beard to match.

Soccer - FA Barclays Premiership - Aston Villa v Middlesbrough - Villa Park

  1. Stephan El Shaarawy’s Spikes

While we’re big fans of texture, this hairstyle proves it can be taken too far! This electrifying look is making our hair stand up on end. We think a shorter, smoother version of this cut would definitely be a style save.

Manchester City - AC Mailand

  1. Djibril Cisse Green Mohican

Another cut that’s got us lost for words! Does anyone else see the uncanny resemblance to a tennis ball?

Soccer - Barclays Premier League - Hull City v Sunderland - KC Sradium
