Spring is well on its way, and with the arrival of warmer weather, you may be thinking about changing up your style for the hotter months to come. Staying cozied up inside during the winter may be preferable, but it can wreak havoc with your hair, so now is the time to get yourself into a new haircare routine, and make sure you’re looking fresh in the run up to summer.

Indoor heating can really dry out your hair, so a regular shampooing session is vital to ensure that your scalp stays soft and dandruff free. If you haven’t tried already, experiment with using a very small amount of conditioner to ensure a silky texture – just make sure not to go overboard, as too much can make hair appear greasy on the surface.

Good haircare is about moderation, so be sure not to over wash, which can strip away some of the natural oils in the hair. Instead, be sure to take your time in the shower to thoroughly rinse out your shampoo, and finish off with a gentle scalp massage to improve the circulation around your head and face.

While the last of blustery winter winds may tempt you into covering up with a hat, this is only a quick fix solution to a bad hair day, and can lead to an irritated or sweaty scalp.

To avoid the horrors of messy, windswept hair pre date or important meeting, consider a low maintenance, shorter style that you’ll find a lot easier to tame. Not only will this defeat the miserable weather, it will also prove ideal as things start heating up, when thicker hair can begin to feel heavy or uncomfortable.
